Acceptable Sources of Funds for a Student Visa to the USA can include:

Personal funds: personal assets or a property that can be readily converted to cash; salary from work that you do as part of a fellowship or scholarship; or specified funds from other persons or organizations.

You will have to present evidence of the existence of these things. For instance

You will need to present copies of bank statements or stock certificates for personal or family funds. If your bank statement will show a recent deposit but a low average balance, the U.S. government may ask for an explanation. You will have to attach something in writing, like a statement or an official document showing the source of the new cash along with the copy of the bank statement.

In case a family member is supporting you, then you will need to present the employment status of family members who is going to support you, like a letter from their employer on company’s letterhead (explaining the person’s job title, salary, and that it’s a permanent position); or copies of their income tax statements.

In case of assets, whether it is held by you or your family members it should be readily converted to cash. And the conversion must be done in a country whose currency is traded on the international exchange. For instance, a piece of land can work. The immigration authorities will see whether the property or land is owned free and clear or it carries any debt or lien. You will need to attach bank or other receipts showing to what extent any loans or mortgages have been paid off.

In case of scholarships, assistant-ships, fellowships, grants or loans from your school, government or private sources, you will need to provide independent confirmation of them. A copy of the notification letter that you have received will do.

If your family members are going to support you, then they can use a USCIS Form I-134 indicating that they not only have the income and assets you’ve shown, but also they are willing to use them to support you financially on your studies and living expenses.

If a non-family member is going to support you, then any of the types of evidence mentioned above for family members, including a Form I-134 Affidavit of Support can be used. Besides, non-family members will also need to write a sworn statement explaining why they are so willing, able, and motivated to pay for your education which is so expensive.
